Forté a magazine of sound, was born out of a need for both deeper and more digressive explorations of subject matter and a curiosity about the possibilities of routing these explorations through sound. The publication follows traditional format – incorporating typical magazine sections including travel, horoscopes, interviews, reviews, essays, and a back page.

Forté is a magazine that does not need a visual character to frame its existence because it routes its meaning through sound instead of print. Interspersed among the contributions are a cover and images, the people we see and the places we go, described instead of seen. Each release incorporates a theme that provides an anchor for the pieces to attach themselves to, making the publication a cohesive whole in each of its installments.

Forté explores the dynamic coupling of subjects such as survival and fashion, politics and travel, culture and science. Forté makes itself available at

Issue 2 of Forté will be available for download and transmitted in the Front Room of AVA over the course of the exhibition.

On January 16th and 24th from 4-5pm, there will be a panel discussion in the Front Room of AVA with the editors of Forté.
